Tudor Folk Club, Chesham 28th September 2009

After a restful summer in which we both recharged batteries and moved on to seeking out and developing new material, it was good to be back playing again and it was particularly nice to be back at the excellent Tudor Folk Club in Chesham. We had played in a sing-around there earlier in the year and had kindly been invited back to do a couple of extended sessions at the end of another of their sing-arounds.

This is a friendly club with lots of talent and a wide range of music from blues through to contemporary and traditional folk. The programme this night covered everything, including a couple of really excellent songs from our firend Hamish Currie who, as he lived reasonably close-by had come along to say hello and give us some moral support. We played three numbers at the end of each half and they were very well received. Indeed, we were informed by one of the other singers there that she had effectively come off her sickbed after a recent operation so that she could hear more of our music – which was really lovely. Indeed, after the evening, through e-mails she asked if she could have the words to two of our songs so that she could build them into her repertoire. This was a request we were very happy to oblige - not least because she is a terrific singer and accordionist, and we look forward to the day when we hear our songs in their new format.

We look forward to returning to Chesham, possibly to do a longer session – fingers crossed!
