Playing with Chris Leslie of Fairport at Blue Moon Studios 15th June 2010

Because of his extremely busy musical timetable, it has taken a long long time to occur, but we were finally able to work with virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Chris Leslie from Fairport Convention at Blue Moon studios on 15th June. Mark Lee, our sound engineer at Blue Moon suggested some months ago that we should approach Chris and see if he would be willing to do some over-tracking for us and we have been very excited ever since he agreed to do so.

What a player and what a nice man! With Mark’s help, we had left Chris with the early masters of three tracks from ‘The Bite’. Very much to Chris’ credit, he had listened with interest to the tracks we had left with him and he had really thought about what he was going to do when he arrived at the studio. So, when he joined us in the morning, he had some clear ideas but was very very sensitive to what our beliefs and interests were. He has laid down some really beautiful overtracks and has brought some excellent ideas to the three tracks he has been involved with. We were greatly encouraged by his kind words about our project.

We then had the pleasure of having a pub lunch with him and hearing a little about his schedule – Cropredy of course, and many other things besides. If you want something done – ask a busy man! Isn’t that what they say?

Rob and I would very much like to thank Chris for all his help on ‘The Bite’ and to Mark Lee for suggesting that we get in contact with him.
